RAMEY WINE CELLARS
2016 CHARDONNAY
FORT ROSS – SEAVIEW
SONOMA COAST

David Ramey is one of the pioneers in the California wine industry, and his experience is so vast that it actually manifests directly into the flavors, complexity, and vivid characteristics in his wines. You’ll know exactly what I mean when you taste his latest 96 Point Chardonnay (WE).

David helped put many iconic wineries on the map including Matanzas Creek, Chalk Hill, Dominus, Rudd and Jericho Canyon.

David and his wife Carla started Ramey Wine Cellars in 1996 and his work over the years has helped shape the way many wines in the United States are made today, including techniques such as: sur lie aging of white wines in barrel; malolactic fermentation of Chardonnay; native yeast fermentations; harvesting fully mature fruit; and bottling without filtration, to name a few.

All of his Chardonnays tell a detailed story of their origins, and they do so with grace and balance, and without being the least bit overbearing. At under $40, don’t let this one slip by.

This Chardonnay originates from the Charles Ranch Vineyard, which has been in the Martinelli Family since the 1800’s. The vineyard is located in the revered Fort Ross Seaview AVA and it neighbors include Peter Michael, Marcassin, Fort Ross and Pahlmeyer properties… a pretty good neighborhood, don’t you think?

Wine critic Jeb Dunnuck writes in his review of the wine, “…a beautifully balanced, crisp, classic wine from Ramey that will keep for 7-8 years, probably longer.”

This wine absolutely sets the bar for what Sonoma Coast Chardonnay can be at this price level, and with the 96 Point score and Editors’ Choice selection by Wine Enthusiast, don’t wait to secure yours.

If you love classic, high quality California Chardonnay, this wine is a must. Even if you’re a “red wine only” wine lover, everyone should have some white wines around the house, especially during the holidays. Why not make it one of the best?

From Wine Enthusiast, “Nutty hazelnut and stony minerality combine seamlessly in this impressive white from the coastal appellation. Full bodied, concentrated and structured, it imparts steely, lively flavors of lemon peel and tangerine, finishing with a soft silkiness to the texture and overall balance of weight.” 96 Points *Editors’ Choice* (VB)

Winery Notes: “From the world class Ritchie Vineyard in the heart of the Russian River Valley this Chardonnay is rich, powerful, and driven by layers of white peach, candied orange peel and lemon curd. Brightness balances the wine and is a hallmark of classic Ritchie Vineyard Chardonnay. This wine was fermented in French barrels and spent a year in barrel leading to wonderfully balanced oak integration while sur lee aging developed depth and complexity.”

The 2016 Cuttings is a larger-than-life Cabernet Sauvignon that always makes an indomitable entrance with a spectacular display of unbridled richness, voluptuous textures and satin layers. The wine was thoughtfully inspired by steep, hillside vineyards and expert blending, and the 2016 was built around a core of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, elevated with Petite Sirah, Syrah and Zinfandel.
