PEIRSON MEYER
2016 CHARDONNAY
CHARLES HEINTZ VINEYARD

SONOMA COAST

Fans of super-rich, creamy and opulent California Chardonnays that are brimming with detailed honeyed orchard fruits, Crème Brûlée, and fresh pastries will find a friend in Peirson Meyer’s 2016 Charles Heintz Vineyard Chardonnay.

After all, the wine is made by Robbie Meyer, whose experience includes five vintages at the iconic Peter Michael Winery, as well as time at Lewis Cellars and Del Dotto.

Originating from the renowned Charles Heintz Vineyard in the Sonoma Coast appellation, that rests at 900 feet above sea level and is nine miles from the Pacific Ocean.

The vineyard experiences cool maritime influences from the Pacific Ocean, yet it receives less cloud cover than many lower-lying Russian River vineyards.

These factors, along with the mineral-rich Goldridge soils all contribute to ideal growing conditions for world-class Chardonnay. That’s why top producers such as DuMOL and Littorai source from this vineyard, along with rising star wineries such as Ceritas and Senses, and their wines sell for $60 or more.

Winemaker’s Notes: “With marvelous depth and complexity, the 2016 Heintz straddles the fence between elegance and power. Layered notes of orange blossom, tangerine, vanilla, and flinty minerality add to the delightful texture on the palate. The Heintz is framed by a beautiful beam of acidity that makes it a superb food wine. In the glass and in the cellar our Charles Heintz Chardonnay evolves beautifully with time.”

The wine is everything one could hope for in upscale California-Styled Chardonnays, with a nice price to boot. What’s not to lover here?

From Antonio Galloni’s Vinous, “The 2016 Chardonnay Charles Heintz Vineyard is another inviting wine in this range from Peirson Meyer. Oily and unctuous on the palate, as these wines tend to be, the Charles Heintz is built on textural richness and creaminess. Pineapple, mint, butter and a kiss of French oak develop with time in the glass.” 91 Points

Peirson Meyer’s 2016 Russian River Chardonnay intricately combines fruit from Sophia’s, Charles Heintz, and SMJ Vineyards in a way that’s wildly expressive, profound, and powerful.

From Antonio Galloni’s Vinous, “The 2016 Chardonnay (Russian River Valley) is a terrific introduction to the year. Baked apple, pineapple, orange peel, wild flowers, chamomile and lightly honeyed notes are all woven together. Silky, open-knit and gracious, the 2016 will drink well upon release. Fruit sources are SMJ, Sophia’s and Charles Heintz.”

Tasting Notes, “Shimmering in the glass like freshly polished brass, every other element in this wine shines as brightly too. The nose is deep, supple, and rich with ripe apples, honeysuckle and baking spices. The palate spans a full and opulent array of flavors, combining butter baked pear, violets and hints of ginger, along with a gorgeous mouth-coating intensity, all without being too heavy. Then comes the finish, which wraps you in a warm, comforting blanket, lingering on and on, then putting you in a very happy place.”
