MASSICAN
ANNIA WHITE WINE BLEND
CALIFORNIAT 2022

Are you tired of the same old boring wines? Ready to step out of your comfort zone and try something new and exciting? Look no further than Massican, the brainchild of the legendary winemaker Dan Petroski.

Dan Petroski is well known throughout Napa Valley for his work at Larkmead, beginning as a harvest intern in 2006 and moving up to head winemaker. With global warming at front of mind, Dan is well known for his legendary experimenting with plantings of different red wine grape varieties. He was also selected Winemaker of the Year by the San Francisco Chronicle in 2017 while at Larkmead.

Dan recently left his position at Larkmead to focus on his Mediterranean-inspired brand, Massican, focusing primarily on white wines; rather an unusual and avant garde approach to winemaking in Napa Valley, but the project has proven to be quite successful.

Dan believes that California’s climate is an ideal match for Mediterranean varietals, and his goal is to produce fresh, vibrant, approachable white wines that bring a new level of interest and excitement that attracts and appeals to a broader range of consumers.

Annia is Massican’s flagship wine blending Friulian grapes with Chardonnay, and the 2022 vintage is 41% Ribolla Gialla, 33% Tocai Friulano, and 26% Chardonnay, all harvested and fermented separately in a mixture of French oak and stainless steel.

The Tocai Friulano and Ribolla Gialla give the wine its kaleidoscope of aromatics, and the Chardonnay provides structure and acidity, reminiscent of a wine from the Mediterranean with California roots.

Tasting Notes: “The Massican 2022 Annia is an elegantly styled white blend that brings aromas of orange blossom, peach, yellow apple, lemon, wet stones, and an oceanic salinity. On the palate, the flavors are broadened by the medium to full-bodied texture with notes of white blossoms, peach, lemon zest, and a crisp minerality. This wine is not only easy to drink but brings complexity that carries into a beautiful finish.”
