LUCIA
2018 PINOT NOIR
SOBERANES VINEYARD

SANTA LUCIA HIGHLANDS

Gary Pisoni is a maverick and visionary who pioneered wine grape growing in the Santa Lucia Highlands in the early 1980s. People said “Gary is crazy” when he first planted a 5-acre plot in the rugged east-facing hillside at 1,300 feet elevation, with no water source.

He spent the next eight years searching for a source of water. When he finally discovered groundwater below hundreds of feet of grantie, he planted 17 more acres of Pinot Noir. It wasn’t long after the vines began bearing fruit that boutique winemakers were lining up to buy his grapes. The rest, as they say, is history.

Jeff and Mark Pisoni joined their father to establish the Lucia brand, with their first release in 2000.

Today, with Jeff as the winemaker and Mark as the grower, Lucia wines continue to marvel wine lovers with their consistently high quality wines. As Jeb Dunnuck wrote in the Wine Advocate, “The Pisoni Family’s Lucia label continues to be a source of incredible wines that always over-deliver.”

Deemed “one of the appellation’s most esteemed properties” by the Wine Enthusiast, the Soberanes Vineyard is farmed by the Pisoni and Franscioni (ROAR) families.

The Lucia 2018 Soberanes Vineyard Pinot Noir has received the attention and high praises of top wine critics.

If you love high-quality Pinot Noir, don’t miss this opportunity to grab some for your cellar and your table.

From Vinous Media: “Deep, shimmering ruby red. A highly perfumed bouquet evokes fresh red and blue fruits, baking spices and potpourri, and a zesty mineral overtone builds with air. Juicy, seamless and energetic on the palate, offering vibrant, mineral-accented raspberry, boysenberry and cherry preserve, rose pastille and spicecake flavors that deepen through the midpalate. Conveys a suave blend of power and finesse and finishes with slow-mounting tannins, fine delineation and impressive, floral- and mineral-driven persistence.”

From Jeb Dunnuck: “The 2018 Pinot Noir Soberanes Vineyard is slightly more Burgundian, with lots of darker, earthy red and black fruit as well as spice, forest floor, and autumn leaf and black tea notes as well as medium to full body, a rounded, nicely textured mouthfeel, and building tannins. It’s another terrific wine…”
