Gaja Winery has been family-owned and operated since 1859. The family is known for their daring winemaking approach and unwavering commitment to exceptional quality. In 1961, Angelo Gaja took over operations and modernized traditional Italian winemaking techniques by utilizing small barriques and blending with international varieties. These risks paid off, significantly elevating wine quality and creating a genuinely iconic, internationally recognized, highly respected brand.

CA' MARCANDA MAGARI
2019 SUPER TUSCAN
BOLGHERI | TUSCANY
"Ca’ Marcanda" translates to “house of endless negotiations” and is the name of the Estate in Tuscany purchased by the renowned Gaja family in 1996 after 18 trips to complete the purchase negotiations. The Gaja family is known for producing world-class wines, and after Angelo Gaja joined the winemaking team in 1961, he revolutionized the Italian wine industry by using barriques and blending Bordeaux varietals.
Ca'Marcanda produces Tuscan wines from the Bolgheri region, which today are allowed to incorporate international varieties as part of the DOC regulations. The 2019 Magari is a blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot.
The vineyard blocks in this blend lie on the fertile hillsides of Terre Brune, consisting of loamy, clay-rich soils that add depth, richness, and minerality. The Magari is a great value, considering that Gaja's top wines sell for more than $500.

2019 SUPER TUSCAN
BOLGHERI | TUSCANY
$69.99

"Cabernet franc makes up 60 per- cent of Magari, bolstering the blend’s structure and freshness (it no longer includes merlot). The wine’s flavors of blackcurrant and plum show a pleasant tangy edge, its earthy tannins firmly guiding the fruit tones without overwhelming them. Hints of licorice and graphite emerge with air, and the dark fruit mingles with iodine notes on the long, seamless finish." 95 Points | Wine & Spirits

GAJA
2019 BARBARESCO
PIEDMONT | ITALY
Gaja Winery has 14 unique vineyard sites located within the municipality of Barbaresco, planted to Nebbiolo vines with an average age of 40 years. Located in some of the best terroirs in Barbaresco, the Gaja's planted these vineyards with various unique Nebbiolo clones.
Instead of producing their single cru wines, in the 2019 vintage, the winemaking team used the best lots from all of their Barbaresco vineyards for this bottling, making this vintage particularly enchanting.
The fruit from each vineyard was fermented and matured separately for 12 months in oak before blending and then aged for an additional 12 months. This technique resulted in a wine with a sophisticated structure with supreme ageability that will continue to reap the rewards from these efforts for years to come.

2019 BARBARESCO
PIEDMONT | ITALY
$279

"Gaja's 2019 Barbaresco was bottled only a few days before this tasting but it already has sweet roses and red fruits on the nose with very subtle, gentle spice notes. It has a great texture and flows gracefully across the palate. It feels very harmonious with plenty of refreshing acidity and finely integrated tannins. Sublimely elegant with a fine, silt-like texture to the tannins, it is poised, beautifully understated and charming. Keep for 2 years and drink for up to 20 plus." 97 Points | The Wine Independent
