FAUST
2021 THE PACT
CABERNET SAUVIGNON

COOMBSVILLE | NAPA VALLEY

Faust’s The Pact Cabernet Sauvignon is an enchanting manifestation of Coombsville’s allure, with its rich tapestry of concentrated dark fruits, velvety espresso tones, and the quintessential Coombsville minerality.

Agustin and Valeria Huneeus, founders of Quintessa in Rutherford, were among the first to plant vineyards in the Coombsville AVA in 1998 after searching out areas of the Valley that could grow fruit that best expressed the style of wine they were looking to create.

Nestled in the southern reaches of Napa Valley, the Coombsville AVA benefits from its proximity to the San Pablo Bay, where cool air and fog converge to nurture fruit characterized by vibrant acidity and robust structure. Faust Wines, renowned for its commitment to showcasing the region’s essence, sources its flagship “The Pact” Cabernet from the Estate’s best vines.

The 2021 vintage unveils robust and complex flavors, owing to optimal conditions throughout the growing season. While possessing the structural integrity for graceful aging, this wine has already garnered superior acclaim, receiving an impressive 97-point rating from James Suckling, who concluded his review by saying he “can’t wait.”

Tasting Notes: “So many graphite and pencil shaving aromas here with blue fruits. Slate and tar undertones. Black and red currants. Some ash. Medium-bodied with open grained tannins. So much iron and rust with lead and mussel shell. Then turns to pine cone and cedar. Really complex and flavor intensive. Love to drink it now as a young wine. This evolves all the time. It will age beautifully. Better in three to five years. But I can’t wait.” 97 Points | JamesSuckling.com

Tasting Notes: “The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley is a saturated red with a ruby hue and has a forward, floral perfume of juicy mixed black and red fruit, candied violets, plums, and fresh herbs. Full-bodied and gushing with primary fruit up front, it has fine tannins and a supple, rounded mouthfeel, offering loads of blackberries and flowers before revealing slightly more earthy tones of mossy earth and tea leaf. Drink 2025-2040.”

Tasting Notes: “The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon DI CO is one of the most harmonious wines in this range. Dark red fruit, iron, dried flowers, menthol and dried herbs give the 2021 striking savory presence to match its bold personality. In its best vintages the DI CO Cabernet punches above its weight. This is one of those years. This is a fabulous showing. In 2020, the DI CO Cabernet is 60% Raphael Vineyard in Oak Knoll and 40% Ferrogiarro Vineyard in Coombsville, the first time the Coombsville site has been used for this bottling.”
