In the 1960’s, Charlie Wagner and his wife, Lorna Belle gloms Wagner, foresaw a bleak future for the family’s prune and walnut crops, so they decided to pull out their trees and devote their property entirely to wine grapes, including Pinot Noir, Johannisberg Riesling and a special clone of Cabernet Sauvignon that Charlie had acquired from Stags Leap grower Nathan Fay.

The Wagners sold their grapes to Inglenook winery and Sonoma Vineyards, among others, and were highly regarded grape growers and home winemaker.

In 1972 Charlie and Lorna asked their son Chuck if he’d like to join them in starting up a winery If he said no they were going to sell the Napa Valley ranch and move to Australia. Chuck accepted and so Caymus Vineyards was born with a production of 240 cases in 1972. The rest, as they say, is history.

With thrilling levels of extract and velvety tannins that are almost impossible to detect, the Caymus 2017 Napa performs on a grand stage with this exuberant, plump, beautifully ripe Cabernet Sauvignons… a style that they’ve undoubtedly pioneered and championed.

This liquid definition of “Regal” arose from a matrix of carefully farmed vineyards, and the irresistible set of flavors were achieved through extended hang time, which is a technique where the fruit is kept on the vine unusually long, allowing the berries to develop an attractive suppleness and perfectly mature flavors.

At under $100, their Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon in Special 1-Liter Bottles is absolutely an American Icon that delivers sensational levels of satisfaction and joy.

The winery excelled in 2017, and this new release asserts enormous extract and powerful richness that envelopes your palate with a compelling crescendo of sweet crème de cassis, blueberry pie and creamy vanilla.

These very special 1-Liter Bottles contain 25% more wine than a regular bottle, and are a necessity with the 2017 vintage… a 750ml is simply not enough of this pleasure-filled Cabernet Sauvignon.
