ARIETTA
2018 QUARTET
PROPRIETARY RED

NAPA VALLEY

Arietta’s specialty is harmoniously balanced Bordeaux-style blends created from top vineyards in Napa Valley. Their wines are inspired by music, and the belief that great wines should sing with balance, vibrancy, and depth.

Arietta is able to achieve this with the right instruments (super-premium grapes), and the help of gifted composer/winemaker Andy Erickson. Andy made Screaming Eagle from 2005-2010. He also makes the To Kalon Vineyard Company wine, as well as Mayacamas, which in the last two consecutive vintages ranked #2 and #4 on Wine Spectator Top 100.

At under $100, Arietta’s 95 point 2018 Quartet should not be missed.

Cabernet Sauvignon takes center-stage in the 2018 Quartet, and is followed by Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petite Verdot. The wines was finely tuned for 20 months in oak and makes its entrance from one of Napa Valley’s most exceptional vintages.

The winery sources fruit from Meteor and Two Belles Farms in Coombsville, and in Carneros, they call on Lee Hudson’s renowned vineyard.

If you’re looking for a stunningly complex and deeply hedonistic blend to add to your cellar, this one is absolutely singing.

From Wine Enthusiast Magazine: “This blends 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot into a cohesive whole of complex structure and grace. Cedar, pencil shavings, iron and crushed rock provide a savory foundation complemented by lush richness in the form of dense blueberry, dark chocolate and nutmeg. Enjoy best from 2028–2035.”

From Antonio Galloni’s Vinous Media: “The 2018 Red Blend Quartet is plump, juicy and forward, all of which make it an absolute joy to taste now. Black cherry, plum, mocha, chocolate, spice and licorice flesh out in this succulent red blend from Arietta. Bright floral notes and a kick of red fruit liven up the finish.” 92 points

This delicious Bordeaux-style blend consists of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and Petit Verdot. The wine was authored by Celia Welch, whom you might recognize from Scarecrow, D.R. Stephens, Barbour, Dalla Valle, and at under $100/btl, this is one of the best wines in the shop, period.

From Jeb Dunnuck: “… It has an exotic, complex bouquet of black raspberry and cassis fruits intermixed with some forest floor, dried flowers, and cedar. This carries to a medium to full-bodied red that has sweet tannin, a rounded, approachable style, and loads to love.”

The final blend’s makeup is nearly 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, elevated with Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. The 2018 vintage is richly layered and ladened with ripe blackberries, assorted chocolates, minerals, and red flowers on the palate.

Tasting Notes: “The 2018 Steps Barrel Select begins with an intense, ripe nose of black cherries, red currants, graphite, fresh mushrooms and sweet vanilla. The palate is powerful and penetrating with crushed mountain blackberries, lush black fruits, espresso roast and refined minerals. It finishes with satiny tannins, and a long, balanced, supple mouthfeel. Drink now until 2030.”
