CHAPPELLET VINEYARDS
SIGNATURE CABERNET SAUVIGNON
2019 NAPA VALLEY

“It’s a candidate for the best Napa Cabernet under $100.”
—Jeb Dunnuck

Donn Chappellet dreamed of making Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that would rival First Growths of Bordeaux. In 1967, with the advice of André Tchelistcheff, he and his wife Molly established Chappellet and were some of the first to plant vines on Pritchard Hill.

Their vineyard ranges 800 to 1,800 feet in elevation and has climbed to critical acclaim, even being called “Napa Valley’s Rodeo Drive” and “Napa Valley’s Grand Cru.”

The Signature Cabernet Sauvignon has been their flagship wine for over 50 years, laying a foundation for structured, mountain fruit with concentrated varietal character lending years of longevity.

Phillip Corallo-Titus has been guiding the winemaking team for over three decades crafting some of the finest wines from Pritchard Hill and Napa Valley.

The 2019 growing season yielded Cabernet Sauvignon with seductive aromatics, radiant energy, and supple tannins that glide into a long finish and a lasting impression.

“This is very complex, with blackcurrants, tobacco and cedar. Some sandalwood and terra-cotta, too. Medium-to full-bodied with ultra-fine tannins that are creamy-textured and so long and pure. Attractive and complex. 77% cabernet sauvignon with petit verdot, malbec and merlot. So good now to drink, but will age beautifully. Drink or hold.”

“Always a smoking value that readers shouldn’t miss, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Signature sports a dense purple color to go with beautiful cassis and blueberry-like fruits as well as bouquet garni, spice, and obvious, rocky mineral-like aromas and flavors. Rich and medium to full-bodied, with notable structure and good acidity, it’s going to keep for two decades in cold cellars. It’s a candidate for the best Napa Cabernet under $100.”

“The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is every bit as magnificent as it was last year. A heady, statuesque wine, the 2019 captures all the pedigree of the vintage. Inky red cherry fruit, mocha, licorice and spice race across the palate. The 2019 is bright, deep and powerful, with exceptional balance and tons of class. It’s a stunning wine, to say the least. The move towards a slightly less pushed style, with less overt oak signatures, has paid off big time. This is a fabulous showing.” —Antonio Galloni

Winemaker Tasting Notes
“The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the Grassi estate, and is a blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 13% Cabernet Franc. It is a true showcase of the estate and the great vintage; red and black fruit on the nose with a hint of French oak. On the palate it has mid+ body, great acidity and fresh notes mixed with notes of cherry, raspberry and blackberry. Firm tannins are holding the wine tight with a long finish. The wine is showing well and will age for 15+ years.”
—Maayan Koschitzky, Winemaker (Director of Winemaking at Atelier Melka)
