The upcoming release of the 2014 Napa Valley is an absolute classic that’s made in the distinctive Silver Oak style, divulging extravagant levels of sweet black fruits, camphor and vanilla.
2016 was another banner vintage, and this release displays the year’s amazing rich mouthfeel, weighty palate and dense core. The Wine Spectator rated the overall vintage for Napa Valley Cab 98 Points, the highest rated vintage for Napa Cabernet since 1998.
The 2016 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is comprised of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, with the rest consisting of small amounts of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. The juice was then transferred into American oak barrels from Silver Oak’s cooperage, The Oak, where it aged from 24 months.
Revealing beautiful focus and concentration, and supported by supple tannins that slowly reveal layer after layer of crushed blackberry, black currants, bay leaf, coconut and vanillin oak. This 2016 may be one of the best bottlings of the Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon in recent memory.

Winery Notes: “Deep ruby in color, the 2016 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is an opulent wine with notes of cassis, ripe raspberry, toasted coconut and shiitake mushroom. This wine has a rich entry, depth through the mid-palate, great structure without being heavy and exceptional length on the finish. Fresh cherry flavors balanced with floral notes and a subtle hint of black pepper add a beautiful complexity. Plush tannins lend to its ageworthiness. Given proper cellaring conditions, this wine will show beautifully through 2040.”
