OCCIDENTAL
2023 PINOT NOIR
FREESTONE-OCCIDENTAL

Originating from the marine-influenced valleys of Sonoma’s extreme coastline, Occidental’s 2023 Freestone-Occidental Pinot Noir is a brilliant portrait of site and craftsmanship. Crafted by legendary Pinot Noir pioneer Steve Kistler and his daughter, Catherine, this release builds upon its legacy: refined yet dynamic, precise yet powerfully evocative, it is a wine destined for the highest echelons of Pinot greatness.

In 1975, Steve Kistler discovered the transformative power of coastal vineyards, where cooler temperatures coax a profound elegance and ethereal depth from Pinot Noir grapes.

After leading Kistler Vineyards into international acclaim, Steve refocused his passion entirely on the untamed terrain of Occidental in the West Sonoma Coast AVA, driven to craft wines of absolute purity, expressive energy, and unmatched finesse.

Occidental seeks purity above all else, and the 2023 Freestone-Occidental Pinot Noir achieves this ideal magnificently.

Drawn from three distinctive coastal sites and gently guided by indigenous yeast fermentations, this wine resonates with bright raspberry, crushed violets, and an unmistakable saline freshness.

Rarely does a wine convey its origins so vividly and with such unmistakable charm and elegance.

Tasting Notes: “A tightly focused beam of bitter cherry, damson plum and raspberry coulis streams through this red, with mouthwatering cut in the form of ocean breeze minerality that runs throughout. Iris and rose hip notes fill in the background as the long, piercing finish shows a remarkably pure and unadorned feel. A high-definition Pinot. Drink now through 2035. 3,650 cases made.”

RAEN is the creation of Carlo and Dante Mondavi. The Royal St. Robert Cuveé is an homage to their grandfather, Robert Mondavi.

Tasting Notes: “An amazingly complex, dynamic wine that demands your attention from the first sniff to the lingering finish. Aromas of redwood forest, rosemary, purple flowers and black cherries, then black tea, pomegranate, dark cherry, dried raspberry and wild mushroom flavors. Fine-grained moderate tannins and crunchy acidity give it such a firm backbone. Drink now or hold.” 99 Points | James Suckling

CAMPBELL RANCH VINEYARD
by DAN KOSTA

$95

alt="Add to Cart button gold"

Tasting Notes: “Dan Kosta’s Convene wines are aged in 30% new oak, while his elevated DK label is closer to 50% for 15 months and encompasses specific blocks or barrel selections from single vineyards. Campbell Ranch vineyard in the Russian River Valley is the winery’s largest holding, with clones 777 and 115. There’s more power and intensity to these single vineyard wines. A wonderful minty freshness mingles with crushed river stones, white pepper, and intriguing umami notes. Medium to full-bodied with very present, substantial tannins that have beam-like qualities, a bit sappy and balanced by mocha notes. The entire wine has a broad feeling on the palate and builds with spicy richness. It’s layered with dense black cherry, pomegranate, spiced plums, and blood orange fruits, which have real staying power. The long finish is marked by warming brown sugar spices, toffee, and espresso beans. Plenty of heft balanced by great tension. 503 cases made.” 97 Points | Jonathan Cristaldi | Decanter
