MY FAVORITE NEIGHBOR
2019 CABERNET SAUVIGNON
SAN LUIS OBISPO
CALIFORNIA CENTRAL COAST
Wine writer and critic, Jeb Dunnuck recently commented on Eric Jensen’s My Favorite Neighbor wines stating, “As I’ve written numerous times in the past, all of these (wines) would run two to three times the cost if they were from Napa Valley.” —Jeb Dunnuck
Turning heads with consecutive vintages earning mid 90 point scores, Eric Jensen of My Favorite Neighbor (and Booker Vineyards) created an ideal combination of perfectly ripe fruit, flavor intensity, and lavish textures, giving some of the best $50 Cabernets anywhere a run for their money.
As an homage, he created this Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend from exceptional vineyards around San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, and Edna Valley, crafted to deliver unreal quality and shake up domestic Cab in this price range.
Eric is dedicated to growing fruit for some of the best wineries in Paso Robles, gaining experience along the way from neighboring farmers and vintners, particularly from his original favorite neighbor, Stephan Asseo of L’Aventure Winery.
Farming is life for Eric, and the farmers he works with all share the common goal of growing the best fruit possible using organic or biodynamic practices, coaxing the vines to perform at their ultimate best.
The results are simply stunning, and with the new 96 & 95 point scores, don’t hesitate to secure yours.

2019 CABERNET SAUVIGNON
SAN LUIS OBISPO
CALIFORNIA CENTRAL COAST
$49.99
From JebDunnuck.com, “The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is more elegant and focused, with medium to full-bodied aromas and flavors of cassis, redcurrants, green tobacco, and cedary spice. I love its texture, it has ripe, polished tannins, plenty of sweet fruit, and a great, great finish, all while staying in a relatively compact, and again, elegant package. As I’ve written in the past, it would cost three to four times the price from Napa. It’s worth noting the change in appellation from Paso Robles to San Luis Obispo County, which probably allows for a wider range of fruit.”
95 Points —Jeb Dunnuck
From RobertParker.com, “Blended with a bit of Syrah and Petit Verdot, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon has a deep ruby-purple color and an alluring fragrance of cassis, violet, aniseed, bitter chocolate and coffee beans. It’s notable this vintage for Goldilocks ripeness and seamless lift, offering a chocolate-like texture and very long finish.” 96 Points —Erin Brooks

HARVEY & HARRIET
2019 PROPRIETARY RED WINE
SAN LUIS OBISPO
(by MY FAVORITE NEIGHBOR)
$32
From The Wine Advocate: “Deep ruby-purple, the 2019 Harvey & Harriet has beguiling crushed red and black cherries, tar, coffee beans and dark spicy and savory accents on the nose. Full-bodied but light on its feet and easy to drink, it offers a fine balance of powerful fruit intensity and seamless freshness, a style that will appeal to a wide range of red-wine drinkers, from lovers of Zinfandel to fans of Cabernet.”
94 Points —Erin Brooks
From Jeb Dunnuck: “…the 2019 Harvey and Harriet can be thought of as the more approachable, lush red in the lineup, and it always seems more black fruit-driven than the straight Cabernet Sauvignon. Blackberries, sweet tobacco, cedar, and some floral violet nuances define the nose, and it’s medium to full-bodied, with a beautiful texture and silky tannins. It’s a smoking value, and while it has plenty of up-front charm, it certainly has a decade or more of overall longevity.” 94 Points —Jeb Dunnuck

PASO ROBLES
Retails at: $78.00
Members’ price: $59.99
Justin pioneered Bordeaux grape varietal blending in Paso Robles more than 30 years ago and named their flagship wine Isosceles for the three varieties that go into it; Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. Today, they’re one of the most recognizable producers in the region, and Isosceles unwaveringly delivers rich layers of lavish fruits and remarkable complexity. At around $60, it’s a lot of wine for the price.
Winery Notes: “Deep ruby/purple core with black secondary color, lighter toward the rim with moderate plus viscosity and slow forming, moderately stained tears. Very aromatic and complex with ripe black cherry and cassis fruit, vanilla, cinnamon and licorice spice with sweet tobacco, cedar, leather and camphor notes. Full-bodied with ripe black cherry and blackcurrant fruit complemented with baking spice and oak notes on entry. Sustained fruit and spice are joined by savory autumn leaf, cedar and leather on the mid-palate with mouth filling, fine tannins that lead into a long, complex and balanced finish with attractive fruit, spice, cedar and subtle camphor notes.”
