KOSTA BROWNE
2021 PINOT NOIR
STA. RITA HILLS
CENTRAL COAST
Michael Browne and Dan Kosta, the visionary founders of Kosta Browne, crossed paths while working in restaurants, where their shared dream of crafting exceptional wines took root. With a passion for highlighting each varietal’s inherent complexity, they inadvertently pioneered a style that struck a chord with Pinot Noir enthusiasts and critics alike.
Their journey to greatness began with a bang, earning the top spot in Wine Spectator’s rankings for their debut 2009 vintage, a remarkable achievement that has since cemented their place as legends in the world of wine.
The Santa Rita Hills AVA is defined by its unique geography, where coastal transverse mountain ranges create a dramatic diurnal range.
With the 2021 Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir, winemaker Julien Howsepian guided his team to craft a precise blend of tradition and innovation: fermentation occurred in 89% stainless steel, 10% concrete, and 1% wood, with 5% whole clusters.
The wine then matured for 15 months in a carefully selected mix of 48% new French oak, 18% wood cask, and 4% new Austrian oak, crafting a rich tapestry of complex flavors and aromas – a true reflection of the terroir.
With 94 and 95-point scores, this vintage is not to be missed.

Tasting Notes: “The 2021 Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir, another in Kosta Browne’s Appellation lineup, is meant to showcase the region’s cool-climate viticulture. As such, it pulls from various vineyard sources across the appellation, including Mt. Carmel, Rita’s Crown, Bentrock, Radian, Sanford & Benedict, and Our Lady of Guadalupe. After ageing 15 months in over 50% new oak, this Pinot Noir is leaping from the glass, showcasing lifted, high-toned violet floral aromas mingling with woody, brown sugar spice notes, red cherry, and vanilla hints. Deep concentration marks the palate, where the mouthfeel is bright, mineral-driven, and juicy. It has ample acidity to balance its red Bing cherry and cherry liqueur flavours, lying on a bed of feathery tannins. A mix of crushed wild rosemary, thyme, and marjoram marks a long finish.” 95 Points | Decanter
Tasting Notes: “This beloved brand manages to click a lot of Pinot Noir boxes in each bottling, including the spice, herb and fruit combo of strawberry, cherry, cinnamon stick and bay leaf on the nose. The palate is ripe and expressive with cherry compote flavors that are enhanced by a toasted pecan warmth and leathery grip.” 94 Points | Wine Enthusiast

WILLIAMS SELYEM
2022 PINOT NOIR
SONOMA COAST
$99.99
Tasting Notes: “Redolent of sweet cinnamon, clove and crushed black cherries, this Pinot packs an aromatic wallop. The palate is fresh and energetic, with an acidity that feels less linear and more chaotic in the best possible way, bouncing around the tannic grip and careening into dark cherry flavors at random. Extremely pleasurable now, this will evolve nicely over the next two decades.” 95 Points | Wine Enthusiast
DuMOL
2022 PINOT NOIR
WESTER REACH
RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY
$75
Tasting Notes: “The 2022 DuMOL Wester Reach Russian River Valley Pinot Noir begins with a bright, rich, sultry nose with powerful ripe cherries, strawberry preserves, crushed rocks, cola bean, shiitake mushrooms, wild white rose petals, and pie spices. The palate is focused, linear, layered, and concentrated with pomegranate, mandarin peel, pie cherries, boysenberries, and nutmeg. While bright and fresh as Pinot Noir should be, it also has a savory character that balances the intense fruit, leading to a long, powerful finish. I can’t wait to drink more…”
