KATHERINE GOLDSCHMIDT
2017 CABERNET SAUVIGNON
CRAZY CREEK
ALEXANDER VALLEY
The Katherine Goldschmidt Crazy Creek Cabernet Sauvignon has been one of our Best Selling Value Cabernet Sauvignons for years. The wine is a perfect example that price is not always indicative of the quality of the wine.
We liked the 2015 so much we took a large position and grabbed all the winery had left earlier this year.
Well, we finally sold out of the 2015, but the good news is that we just picked up the 2017 Crazy Creek Cabernet, and it’s every bit as delicious and satisfying as the 2015, if not better.
At an eye-popping $19.99, I have a feeling this will become your new favorite “Monday-Thursday” wine.
Crazy Creek Vineyard got its name from the seasonal creeks that furcate the land, and the earth beneath results from hundreds of thousands of years of erosion.
Originating from a single vineyard which for years went to Simi for their Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon ($75). Winemaker Nick Goldschmidt began working with this vineyard in 1990 when he was the winemaker at Simi, so he knows this vineyard as well as anyone.
Katherine Goldschmidt Crazy Creek Cabernet Sauvignon perfectly expresses just how delicious and inspiring Cabernet Sauvignon can be from Alexander Valley.
The wine saturates your palate in an abundance of chocolate covered cherries, crushed blackberries, roasted coffee and black currants, and this beauty out-performs most Cabernets in the under $30 category.

Winery Notes, “Nicely focused red cherry and red raspberry aromas. Loaded with red berry fruit flavors with a touch of caramel, dark chocolate, and toasty oak. Well-structured with bold flavor from the long hang time. The texture is smooth and the mouth medium-bodied. White pepper and spice in the finish with long and supple tannins. Drink now or over the next 10 years.”

2018 RESERVE
CABERNET SAUVIGNON
RUTHERFORD | NAPA VALLEY
Members’ price: $25
Tasting Notes, “The Vista Reserve Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 has a gorgeous, powerful nose of blackberry pie filling, French lavender, sweet vanilla and brioche. On the palate, this opulent beauty is rich and concentrated, with a core of focused fruits and flavors including mountain blackberries, red plums, ripe blueberries, menthol, vanilla spice, and dark chocolate, all supported by fine grained fruit tannins. It is amazingly ready-to-drink now, but has the structure to cellar for a decade.”

2016 CABERNET SAUVIGNON
LANGEHORNE CREEK
AUSTRALIA
Members’ price: $19.99
Hailing from the Langhorne Creek Appellation, which is located inside the Fleurieu zone, and is also home to the McLaren Vale region, Shottesbrooke’s 2016 Cabernet perfectly expresses the area’s rich terroir.
From James Halliday, “While not particularly deep, the hue is youthful, and the fragrant eucalypt nuances that accompany the fresh cassis of the palate are regional (and shared with Coonawarra). The finely spun tannins are a feature of a medium-bodied cabernet made to be drunk whenever the idea pleases you. Screwcap. 14.5% alc. To 2030” 95 Points
