Hourglass produces highly acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot under the guidance of winemaker Tony Biagi, who gained nearly ten years of experience making wines for Plumpjack.
The estate consists of two vineyards focused on Bordeaux varietals that Tony assembles like a puzzle with a modern twist on an old-world wine style.
The 2019 HG III Proprietary Blend harmoniously combines Merlot, Petite Sirah, and Cabernet Sauvignon from the Blueline Estate vineyard and a select few top-of-the-line vineyards for a delectable wine with finesse and approachability.
The 2019 vintage was aged 16 months in a combination of new and seasoned French oak, contributing to a multilayered complexity and irresistibly smooth tannins that make HG III a brilliant entry into one of Napa Valley’s most desired Estates.

Tasting Notes: “Continuing along the path of producing a wine that is both powerful and supple at release, Hourglass’s HG III Proprietary Red 2019 is another gorgeous interpretation of the Estate, masterfully assembled into a beautiful blend. This luscious, sultry offering begins with a brooding nose of briary blackberries, cocoa nibs, Marionberries, iron, cold smoked meat, bouquet garni, white pepper, vanilla, and delicate flowers. The rich, opulent palate is focused and intense with ripe blackberries, dark chocolate, clove spice, and Burgundy plums. The finish is deep, balanced, long, and amazingly integrated, combining slightly chalky tannins that, while noticeable, in no way hinders early enjoyment. This stunner will drink beautifully over the next decade or more.”
