Gamba Vineyards and Winery is one of the premier growers and producers of Old Vine Zinfandel in the Russian River Valley. The Gamba Estate Old Vine Zinfandel is one of our most popular wines with our clientele and sells out every year.
Gus Gamba considers himself a steward of the land, and farms his Estate Vineyard with strict organic practices, with only rainwater used as irrigation. The Estate vineyard was planted in 1900, and is cultivated without the use of herbicides or pesticides.
Due to its unique and highly desirable location, with the hands-on farming methods employed by Gus Gamba and his small hand-picked crew, combined with the ideal micro-climate and terroir for Zinfandel, the Gamba Estate is a rare, historic, and exceptional site for producing world class Old Vine Zinfandel.
As for the growing season, Gus proclaims, “2019 was an exceptional winegrowing season in the Russian River Valley AVA.” Wine Spectator rated the vintage 93-96 Points for Sonoma County Zinfandel, stating, “A warm growing season that produced supple, juicy, fruit-filled wines for short-term drinking.”
However, Gus states, “We expect the wines of 2019 to be age worthy, with their nicely balanced structure and acidities, exhibiting glorious fruit flavors, strong backbones and gorgeous color.”

Winery Tasting Notes: “The exciting 2019 MCM Gamba Estate Old Vine Zinfandel is a brilliant wine, with bright garnet hues shining in the glass. The aroma offers lush raspberry, rhubarb pie and savory dried herbs. Medium to full in body, the wine ex- plodes with fresh berries, stone fruit and red cherry that are accented with delicious brown spices and an essence of toasty oak. The texture is slightly leathery, yet polished and refined. The wine is focused, compelling, and exquisitely layered, with mouth-watering tannins; a serious and seamless flavor experience from beginning to end.
