ANAKOTA
2019 CABERNET SAUVIGNON
HELENA MONTANA VINEYARD

KNIGHTS VALLEY

Anakota’s Helena Montana Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is a masterful expression of terroir and craftsmanship, embodying the pinnacle of world-class viticulture. Nestled on the western slopes of the Mayacamas Mountains, this singular vineyard basks in cool Pacific breezes, tempering the warm valley sun to create an ideal microclimate for Cabernet Sauvignon.

Under the visionary guidance of 100-point winemaker Pierre Seillan, whom you may recognize from his stellar, highly-rated Verité wines.  Pierre champions Knights Valley as one of the world’s premier regions for Cabernet Sauvignon. Anakota crafts wines that echo the gravitas of Bordeaux’s Pauillac while remaining distinctly Californian.

Perched at 950 feet, the Helena Montana Vineyard sprawls across 60 acres of steep, undulating terrain. Its vines are rooted in rocky, volcanic soils that impart power and concentration.

Over the decades, this vineyard has yielded wines marked by their commanding structure, refined elegance, and longevity—hallmarks that shine brilliantly in the 2019 vintage.

The Anakota 2019 Helena Montana Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon promises to, and already has evolved gracefully, standing as a testament to the vineyard’s enduring legacy and the art of meticulous winemaking.

Tasting Notes: “Incredibly spicy and aromatic with pumice and cloves. Pops out of the glass. Cedar, too. Full-bodied with soft, polished tannins adding tension and creaminess. Long and beautiful. All about class and breeding. Try after 2025.”
99 Points | James Suckling

Tasting Notes: “Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2019 Helena Montana Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon needs plenty of swirling to unlock notions of plum preserves, warm cassis, and stewed black cherries, plus suggestions of mossy tree bark, black olives, and fragrant earth. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers mouth-coating black fruits with a firm, finely grained texture and plenty of freshness to frame the generous fruit, finishing with brightness and a compelling lift. 793 cases were made.” 97+ Points | The Wine Independent

Tasting Notes: “A solid Altagracia with currants, blueberries and pine and bark aromas and some sweet tobacco. Aromas that follow through on the palate to a full body with a well-framed tannin profile. Crunchy at the end. Juicy too. Needs as couple of years to come together. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Best after 2027.” 96 Points | James Suckling

The Setting wines are made by founder and rising star winemaker Jesse Katz. If you haven’t tried his wines yet, you should really get on board. You’ll thank me later.

Tasting Notes: “The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley was matured for 22 months in 80% new French oak. The nose features maraschino cherries, dark chocolate, aniseed, violet, and a singular array of exotic spices. The medium-bodied palate is surprisingly light on its feet, with a frame of silky tannins and seamless acidity that highlights pretty floral and chocolaty tones on the finish. It has depth and complexity without weight and drinks beautifully straight from the bottle. 650 cases were made.”
