Value Wines

Price does not always determine the quality of a wine, and you don’t have to spend a fortune to enjoy quality wines.

Here are some of our favorites…

Famiglia-Bianchi-MalbecFamiglia Bianchi 2013 Malbec
Mendoza Valley, Argentina

As a testament to the unrivaled quality of Famiglia Bianchi’s Malbec, the previous vintage of this wine was our top selling wine in 2014, with hundreds of cases sold. This 2013 is worthy follow up to the highly regarded previous vintage.

Tasting Notes:  Famiglia Bianchi Malbec is a deep purple-red color, Valentin Bianchi’s Famiglia Bianchi Malbec has luscious fruit aromas, with hints of ripe plums and cherries, and subtle spicy touches. Aromas of chocolate, roasted coffee, mocha cream and vanilla are also present. The strong fruit flavors come through on the palate, with an intense, persistent and round mouthfeel, showing sweet and ripe tannins.

Barossa Valley, Australia

Scoring 92 Points in Wine Spectator, 3 Rings 2013 Shiraz is already one of the highest rated Shiraz for the vintage, and it only costs $18.99. From Wine Spectator: “Plush and spicy, this exotic style layers ripe plum and cherry fruit with star anise and peppercorn overtones that carry into a long and vivid finish.”
92 POINTS, “Smart Buys”

Tasting Notes:  Inviting aromas of black cherry, violets, blueberries and mocha. The palate is intense and generous with plenty of fresh fruit. Black currants, blueberries and dark chocolate flavors are accompanied by firm, supple tannins, and ending with a long, toasty oak finish.”

Kuleto-India-Ink-2010Kuleto 2013 India Ink
Proprietary Red Wine, Napa Valley

Kuleto’s Proprietary Blend “India Ink” is clearly one of THE best values from one of Napa Valley’s most elite neighborhoods.

Composed by seasoned Winemaker Dave Lattin (23 years winemaking, Storybook Mountain, Robert Pecota, Acacia). The 2013 showcases amazing depth, deep velvety flavors, accented by a rich and voluptuous mouthfeel. This wine packs a serious punch.

Tasting Notes:  A glass staining purple/black in color, leads to copious layers of ripe blackberries, black plum, barbecued meat, black currants and notes of sweet oak. The tannins are finer grained and as the wine opens up it becomes more voluptuous and round in texture, with juicy dark fruit leading to long, very pleasurable finish. Enjoy 2015-2021.

Luli Pinot NoirLuli 2013 Pinot Noir
Santa Lucia Highlands

With grapes farmed by Mark Pisoni and the wine made by his brother, Jeff Pisoni, this exceptional value, delicious Pinot Noir has some serious backing. The Pisoni family operates some of the most prestigious vineyards in California, and makes some of the best wines as well.

Winemaker’s Notes:  “The vintage delivered both a richly textured and vibrant wine–a character one obtains from such cool climate regions as the Santa Lucia Highlands.”

Cosa Obra Pinot NoirCosa Obra 2013 Pinot Noir
Sonoma County

A perennial favorite among our customers and a Top Seller, this Pinot Noir is a great value for the quality. Aged for 12 months in French Oak Barrels, the 2013 is an excellent follow up to the 2012, which became one of our most talked about and loved Pinots last year.

Tasting Notes:  Loaded with aromas of dark cherry, plum and vanilla, the palate reveals fine tannins framing dense flavors of Bing cherry and tobacco, all providing the generous mouthful of a rich, complex Pinot Noir. This wine comes alive with nice layering, finishing with delightful notes of cranberry and spice.

Le Pich 2013 Chardonnay
Russian River Valley, Sonoma County

This phenomenal Chardonnay is made by Julien Fayard, who learned his craft at Chateau Lafite Rothschild. Julien gained valuable, first-hand experience as Director of Winemaking with Philippe Melka for elite Napa Valley producers like Lail, Gemstone, Hundred Acre, and Vineyard 29.

Winery Notes:  “Notes of baked pear, vanilla, baked pie crust with a rich creamy-like mouthfeel – just what you would expect from a well-made California Chardonnay. This wine seriously over-performs for its price.”

Vogelzang ViognierVogelzang 2013 Viognier
Birdsong Vineyard

This remarkable, single-vineyard Viognier was crafted by Robbie Meyer, whose experience includes 5 vintages at the iconic Peter Michael Winery, as well as time at Lewis Cellars.

Tasting Notes:  The Birdsong Viognier offers all the beautiful exotic notes of the varietal without being overpowering. Tropical notes of lychee fruit and jasmine jump from the glass and then yield to more subtle accents of dried apricots and river stones.

Belle Glos Pinot Noir BlancBelle Glos 2014 Rosé of Pinot Noir
Pinot Noir Blanc

Originating from a vineyard grown specifically for making Rosé, this irresistible Rosé was crafted by talented winemaker Joseph Wagner, who grew up at his father’s CAYMUS Winery.

Winery Notes:  “Pale pink with a copper hue, this wine has a classic “eye of the partridge” color. Citrus-driven aromas carry through to the palate. On entry, bright acidity enlivens the dense creamy orange note with layers of dried, tart apricot. The brightness verges on minerality, but there is so much weight that the richness balances out the firm acidity and carries flavors of dried fruit through the long-lasting finish.”
