2011 Growing Season

A Challenging Vintage for Sonoma County Vineyards

2011 started off with higher than normal rainfall that extended into May.  One of the main problems was the rain that fell while many vines were in bloom around March/April.  This knocked off blooms thereby reducing the crop load and causing “shatter” in some vineyards.  The amount of damage varied from vineyard to vineyard and also by varietal.

More videos about the 2011 growing season will follow, but first is a video with Glenn Alexander of Bacchus Vineyard Management and Sanglier Cellars, who introduces us to a spectacular vineyard in the Rincon Valley of Sonoma County, just east of Santa Rosa.
