Wine bottles with a wax top can often seem intimidating, but they don’t have to be. In fact, opening a wax topped wine bottle is quite simple. Some of my customers love taking a wax topped wine bottle to a restaurant, and after seeing the pensive look on their server’s face, showing them how to do it.

Penetrating your taste buds with dreamlike intensity and all of the scrumptiously thrilling qualities and unforgettable flavors and aromas that make the Steps Reserve wines so wondrous. With a steep decline in production over the previous two vintages, the STEPS 2014 Winemaker’s Reserve Blend will only be available at the $45/btl price through June 15th. The final blend has a solid core of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon from Atlas Peak, magnified by 14% Cabernet Franc from Kenefick Palisades Vineyard, 9% Malbec from Oakville and completed with 5% Petit Verdot from Coombsville. Layered with supple tannins and gorgeous complexity, the 2014 was cave aged for 24 months in high quality oak barrels, and just as we’ve come to expect from Steps… the 2014 Winemaker’s Reserve will compete favorably with wines at more than double its price.
Tasting Notes: “Riveting aromas laced with crushed blackberries, chocolate covered raspberries, espresso roast and subtle oak. Focused, enchanting flavors of dark black fruits, plum, crème de cassis and espresso, unfold in layers across the palate, as a spectacular dusty/minerality and crushed rock let you know the wine is from Atlas Peak. The soft, yet firm tannins carry the wine effortlessly through the long pleasurable finish. Delicious now, this wine will cellar for at least 10 years.” 72% Cabernet Sauvignon | 14% Cabernet Franc | 9% Malbec | 5% Petit Verdot
