“… Gamba’s name is going to have to be included with some of the stars of Sonoma, such as Hartford Court, Carlisle, Bedrock and even the superstar Turley.”
-Robert Parker, Jr. Wine Advocate, Issue #223 Mar 2016

Without question, Gamba Vineyards and Winery is one of premier producers of Old Vine Zinfandel in the Russian River Valley. Gamba wines are typically rich, yet balanced and a “Customer Favorite” among our clients.

The previous vintage of Gus Gamba’s Starr Road Ranch Zinfandel earned an astounding 96 Points from Robert Parker and remarkably the 2014 promises to be just as good, if not better!

Now gaining world-wide acclaim, and proving to be top contenders on California’s Zinfandel scene, Gamba always delivers beautifully with their stunningly rich and deeply concentrated Old Vine Zinfandels.

Gamba 2014 Starr Road Ranch Old Vine Zinfandel

Fashioned from an organically farmed vineyard planted in 1920, these ancient vines of the Starr Road Ranch Vineyard (formerly Moratto Vineyard) have relied on winter rains as their sole source of irrigation for over 95 years.

Yielding just 1.5 tons per acre of strikingly intense, concentrated, pristinely focused fruit, unsurprisingly, many Zinfandel loving fans have proclaimed that Gamba Zin is The BEST wine in the world. You’ll most certainly want to secure a case of the 2014 before the scores come out.

Winemaker Notes:

“The 2014 GAMBA Starr Road Ranch Old Vine Zinfandel shows an intense and appealing dark ruby garnet color in the bowl of the glass. Aromas of blackberry, cherry, vanilla and cassis are followed by a mineral and brown spice note. Full to medium bodied on the palate, balanced notes of ripe black cherry, blueberry, plum with bramble fruit, are presented on the palate, and coats the mouth with plush round tannins. This glorious wine offers immediate approachability, with its luscious soft edges, depth and complexity. The well-incorporated tannins are complimented by subtle oak and cocoa components that carry on to the finish that keeps pumping out the flavor. This delicious wine was aged in 50% new American oak cooperage to round out the vibrant fruit flavors and long enjoyable finish. Enjoy!” -Gus Gamba, Owner/Winemaker
